Principal's Message:

Welcome back Rose Avenue students, parents, family and friends. The first day of school is Wednesday, August 19, 2009. This year our District will be single track and divided into three time zones, we are in zone one and our school hours will be from 7:45 am until 2:00 pm. With the exception of kindergarten which is from 7:45 - 11:00 am and 11:10 - 2:30 pm. Some classes will be early bird/late bird and your classroom teacher will contact you if your child's hours are staggered within a week. We are a traditional elementary school this year and will participate in thanksgiving, winter, and spring break. You can check the web or pick up a calendar in the office when it's available, if needed.

Our GATE Program is no longer at Rose and we are returning to a neighborhood school after many years. In order to make this transition successful we are asking for parents to get involved at Rose Avenue School, in your child's classroom and on our campus. We have many opportunities to volunteer like PTA, ELAC, Café con Pan, room parents, and many more. We have many evening events planned this year like Back to School Night, Open House, Principal Reception, Family Math, Reading and Movie Nights. All of these activities will be better the more students and families attend. I look forward to seeing you there!

This year has brought a tremendous amount of change. Our campus has begun the first phase of beautification. We have removed the gravel and fencing from our back classroom area and have planted grass, 4 trees, put in a sprinkler system, fencing and concrete areas for tables. The portable restroom has been removed along with 3 unused portables. We have relocated 2 storage bins to another site along with removing our air conditioning unit. The parking lot and playground have received new asphalt we increased our parking lot size by 7 spaces and our playground has been re-painted. We will continue to make more improvements to our campus this year

For 2009-2010 school year we will work with Paula Phillips with The Dream Foundation and DCH in Oxnard to continue to support Rose Avenue students and staff. They volunteer to help our campus in many ways and our goal this year is a school carnival. We will keep you posted as this event gets underway!

I am looking forward to a fun exciting year as we transition from multi to single track. Your child's teachers are motivated and excited about this wonderful opportunity to be on campus altogether every day, if you have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me either by phone or e-mail.

By working together we can continue to make wonderful changes at Rose Avenue as we continue to move students forward in the best interest of their education.

Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars!
